Cultural Strategy
I just listened to Jian Gomeshi's interview with Heritage Minister James Moore and it raised some curious questions.
- Is "public safety" spending (on jails, say) subject to the exact same strategic review process as cultural spending?
- Is defence spending (on F-35s, say) subject to the exact same strategic review process as cultural spending?
- Are there so many "conspiracy theories" around the ideological underpinnings of cultural funding decisions because the Prime Minister tends to bring ideology into cultural discussions?
- Does the Minister see an inherent value in culture outside its value as "intellectual property" and is he prepared to defend it on such terms?
Over to you, Mr. Minister.
